Attendance Fairy

The Attendance Fairy visited our classroom last week!
Students who did not miss a day of school in the month of September earned a bright colored slinky!
There were quite a few kids who got the honor in our classroom!

Spelling Practice

Each week we spend 15-20 minutes practicing our spelling words with shaving cream on our desks.

Homecoming Week

I am SO sad that I didn't get a picture of our class on Orange and Black day! That Friday just went by so quick! But here the kiddos are looking GREAT in their Western Wednesday Wear and NEON! I Neon is my new favorite dress up day! The hallways and playground were SO bright! :)

Mason Jurgens represented our classroom in the Homecoming Parade!

I love running into my students in the community! Especially when they are just as excited to see me!
Here is Nolan, Aly, Hylton, Sophie, Jencie, and Myself at the Volleyball Game/Coronation!

Math Groups

We started our Monday Math Groups
During these groups students are reinforcing concepts that have already been learned and practiced as a whole group. It is important for first graders to be fluent with their addition facts to 10. We will use these skills for the rest of the year.

Daily 5

We are in the swing of our first grade routines. Daily 5 is one of them! Our class LOVES Daily 5. There is a page on this blog that explains more of what Daily 5 is. Check it out for more information!

Work on Writing
Here, students work on their Being a Writer story for the week or their Monthly Writing Journal.
Each student has their own monthly writing journal. There are prompts in the writing journal and there are related words in the pocket charts that students can use to help them write those words and get ideas for what to write about.

 Word Work
Josie and Zuhra are making word wall words and spelling words with stamps and play dough.

Listening to Reading

Read to Someone
Students choose books to read from our orange bucket that is full of books of varying levels that are used for Independent Reading (IDR) Time.

We practice EEKK reading while Reading to Someone.
