Daily 5

Daily 5 is a literacy structure that helps students develop the daily habits of reading, writing, and working independently that will lead to a lifetime of literacy independence. In our classroom students work at the following literacy stations for ten minutes a day: Work on Writing, Read to Someone, Read to Self, Word Work and Listening to Reading. When groups are called to the Work with a Teacher station they are there for twenty minutes. Students love Daily 5!

SIPPS
SIPPS stands for Systematic Instruction in Phoneme Awareness, Phonics, and Sight Words. We use our SIPPS program during our fifty minute intervention time each day. At the beginning of they year students are assessed to provide an entry point into this program. First graders start with the Beginning lessons. There are 55 Beginning lessons. After students have passed all the Mastery assessments in the Beginning lessons, they move into Extension lessons. It is our goal that all students will have completed the Extension lessons by the end of first grade and ready to move into the Challenge program by second grade.

Our Reading Curriculum
Making Meaning, Being a Writer, Vocabulary, and SIPPS comes from the Developmental Studies Center.

DRA/Guided Reading Levels

The link below provides the Guided Reading Level and DRA correlation along with the grade level.
