Pedestrian Safety

Officer Joe came to our classroom and taught us about Pedestrian Safety this week!
We talked about safe places to play and safe places to cross the street and what could happen if we didn't make safe choices.

Making Our Parent Christmas Gifts

On Friday, December 12th, my parents joined our classroom for the afternoon to help making our little Christmas Trees for our parents' gifts.
It was a great afternoon of A LOT of work!

The Gift of Reading!

This December we have been celebrating the Gift of Reading.
Parents and other special guests were invited into our classroom to read to us.
Students got to pick a present from under our tree and
open it to find a special Christmas or Holiday story.
Below you can see who has visited so far!

Oakley's mom, Jessica
She read "Snowflakes Fall"

Aly's mom, Emily
She read a different version of the "12 Days of Christmas"
Our Superintendent, Mr. Nebelsick even joined in the fun!
He read "Santa's Stuck"

The next day, we made some Christmas Art to go with the Santa's Stuck story that you will be able to see at our Christmas Open House on Monday December 15th!

Josie's mom, Jackie, read Santa Pups to us.

Mrs. Olson read Turkey Claus to us!
It was fun to make connections from this story to our Thanksgiving story, Turkey Trouble.

Brando's Aunt, Nuvea, came to read to our class.
She read The Gingerbread Pirate!

Zuhra's mom, Roda, celebrated the gift of reading with us!
She read Llama Llamma Holiday Drama.

Nolan's Brother, Mason, visited our classroom.
He read Charlie and the Christmas Kitty!

Mason's mom, Kristen, read to us too!
She read The Littlest Elf!

Mrs. Heinz, also known as Hylton's mom, came to our classroom
and read A Pirates 12 Days of Christmas!

Nolan's mom, Chris, came one afternoon and read Pete the Cat Saves Christmas!

I will continue to add photos as our visitors come!

Watching Reindeer

Hylton shared reindeercam.com with our class this morning!
It's a live feed camera where you can watch the reindeer.
At certain times during the day, Santa shows up to feed the reindeer, read some letters,
and even do a craft or fun activity!

HHS Sophomore Visit

Sophomores from Huron High School came to visit Buchanan School!
They got to do Weekly Readers with us, read books, and even go outside for recess!
The kids loved seeing classmates' older siblings!

Popcorn Party

Our class earned a popcorn party for filling up their marble jar!
We also celebrated Oakley's half birthday and then all of a sudden
it turned into a DANCE party too! :)

Thank you, Construction Workers!

All of Buchanan gathered in the cafeteria and surprised Chris and Dustin.
The kids signed the book "Goodnight, Construction Sight" and we gave it to them to thank them for all their hard work building our new school!

Fuel Up to Play 60 - Ambassadors

Buchanan is taking part in the Fuel Up to Play 60 program this year!
This is a picture of our Ambassadors! There is one representative from each classroom.
We are proud to have Oakley be a part of this team for our class!
