Tiger Game

Last Thursday we took the afternoon to show our Tiger Pride and support our Boys Basketball team by watching their first round game against Lincoln! The kids cheered extra loud when Miss Eliza was announced as a cheerleader before the game! Of course we couldn't miss this opportunity to have popcorn, too!

Miss South Dakota

Miss South Dakota (Tessa Dee from Mitchell, SD) came to Madison on Wednesday, March 12th to support her Literacy platform. She presented to all 180 first graders in the gym. She told them about her crown, her sash, and her job this year as Miss South Dakota. She read them a story and answered their many questions.

Fox in Socks Day

On Wednesday we Read Dr. Seuss' Fox in Socks. The kids had a fun time listening to the tongue twisters throughout the story.

To add to the fun of Fox in Socks and Crazy Socks Day we played a Minute to Win It game where the kids had to put on as many socks as they could in 60 seconds.
(Don't worry, germ spreading was kept to a minimum as the big socks had been washed and the kids kept their own socks on for the game!)
The Group Winners were: Veronica, Paw Moo, Heather, Ronaldo and Kenna
The Grand Champion was: HEATHER! Congratulations!

Miss Thorson's Dad Comes to do Science

Lyle (Miss Thorson's dad) came from Pierre on Wednesday afternoon to do some science experiments with the kids. They put food coloring in milk and a few little drops of soap to see what would happen. They tried to reach an M&M in a jar with a rubber glove stretched over the top. They talked about how germs spread by using gloves and food coloring. The kids also put an egg in water and added salt until it floated.
