September 11th

On September 11th, our class watched a Reading Rainbow video that visited a school in New York City that is close to Ground Zero. We learned that those students had to go to a school far away while their city was being fixed.

Those students are now "Back Where They Belong" at PS 234 and made art projects and a music video thanking everyone around the world for their support during their time away from their school.

The students worked on a Patriot Day book that discussed ways to honor America on September 11th. They also made "Never Forget" Ribbons to hang on their lockers.

Class Name Graph

This past week we worked on our Class Name Graph.

The students wrote the letters from their names on little squares, counted how many letters were in their name, and filled out a graph about the names in our classroom!

We discovered that most people in our class have 5 letters in their name. The least amount of people have 3 letters in their name and nobody has 9 letters in their name.

Back to Football Friday

To celebrate the start of football season,
the school district took the opportunity to get active!
Buchanan participated by walking around the softball fields for about 30 minutes!

Class Fish

Everyone, meet our class fish: Leonardo!

All About Me Bags

I was able to snap a few pictures of students sharing their All About Me Bags with the class! They did such a nice job sharing information, facts, and their interests with the class!

Safari!

This week, animals escaped from our classroom!

We worked quickly to make our binoculars, safari hats, and safari vests!

Fortunately, all the animals along the way were hiding in the most important parts of our school; so we were able to learn where the bathrooms, the music room, the computer lab, the kindergarten wing, the library, the gym, the office/nurse, and the commons/cafeteria is!

We're ready to explore! We had to be SOOOO quiet so the animals didn't run from us when we found them!

Adam found the Monkey who was hiding by the bathrooms!

Jencie spotted the Tiger by the Music Room and Computer Lab!

Htoo, Dylan, and Josie found our Hippo hiding in the Kindergarten Wing!

Pran Moo found the Elephant relaxing in the Library!

Nolan and Jeselyn caught our Zebra helping Mrs. Williams in the Office!

Finally! Hylton, Zuhra, Wyatt, and Jonathan found our last animal, the Lion, waiting for the next meal in the Commons/Cafeteria!

We made it back to our room just in time to get ready to go home, all the animals are home safe in our classroom!

First Day Jitters

On the first day of school, we read the book First Day Jitters, graphed how we were all feeling on the first day of school, and then enjoyed some Jitter Jungle Juice to get the Jitters out.
